I wanted to write this mainly because I think we, as a community, are
losing the art of phone game. I think there are several reasons for
this behaviour.
1) We aim to pull when we meet – I know I do. The community no longer goes for #closes but pushes interactions to the end – this is good. If logistical things get in the way, we tend to “next” the girl, without giving It a second thought.
2) Texting, emailing etc. has become SO common place, that we consider, culturally, that actually talking to someone with voice, is an imposition. We’ve become programmed to text/email as the norm of behaviour.
3) People are too scared to call. They’ve found a short cut where they don’t need to face their fears, and so we text/email/facebook etc. instead – OUT OF FEAR
I think that it’s sad that it’s come to this, there was genuine SKiLL in gaming on the phone, and it’s a skill we’re losing. Way back when, once up on a time, you had to cold call a chick on the phone. First you had to take the chance that she even REMEMBERS you from the club/street from before. Then you had to take the chance that she would actually talk to you and not slam the phone down. We had to mitigate ALL THiS BEHAViOUR in the field. We had to implement Cialdini at the close: “Ok, remember when I call you have to answer on the first ring – ok?” “Yes sir!”. We had to call her when we got outside the club as a joke, just to get her used to talking to us on the phone. This, two of many strategies we implemented.
And I’ll be frank. When I started out I HATED calling. Oh I’m not pretending that I’m old skool. By the time I found the game, texting was in full swing. But mentally, I thought it was cheating. I used to be all “If I couldn’t pull a girl from 50 years ago with the method I’m about to employ – then I’m not employing that method.” (even tho hardly anyone had phones 50 years ago, or even mobiles, but that logic escaped me).
So, well I would refuse to cheat by texting. Instead I’d collect numbers and not call them lol. Cold calling numbers was terrifying for me. In fact I’m not the only one. Time and time again I would see guys in the field collect numbers never to call them. They be like, “Yeah I got her number, but it’s prolly a flake.” LOL. How many times have we heard THAT excuse gentleman… “Yeah I got her nummer, prolly a flake…” Hehehe, choding out of the subsequent call is all that is.
So ok, I understand today we can all side-step this terrifying ordeal and start texting BEFORE we call and all that. But you know what, if you have the calling skills – texting is COMPLETELY unnecessary. And, more than anything, phone game in and off itself is a fun exhilarating thing to do! Just like chattin her up in’t first place.
So I say, just for a laugh, we all do a “30 day challenge deluxe” of only calling girls whose number we get, and texting only for logistics etc…
And, yes, I do harp on about my Muay Thai like forever (well it is my main passion outside of pickup) but this shit really put the calling girls thing in perspective for me. This is how.
I started Muay Thai about a year ago. My normal day for calling chicks was Sunday. Sunday was also the more brutal Muay Thai session as well. I suggest you all take up a hobby like this – something that challenges you physically and emotionally and to the point of breaking you. It RAPiDLY puts things into perspective.
This is not a “how to” guide. I wanna share a perspective with you, an attitude. I was terrified of calling my numbers. I used to NEVER call them. The odd call that I did make in my first year in the game, went disastrously. I got laid, but never on a cold call back then. I pretty much abandoned it, and most nights just turned into “practice” nights.
Do you think when I emerged from my gym, sore and bruised, battered and exhausted – that I looked at my phone and felt ANYTHiNG but indifference? TOTAL indifference. This helped me immensely in getting over my cold calling aversion. I felt nothing.. I didn’t care. You think getting hung up on by a girl had ANY prospect of fear for me after having been worked within an inch of my life (or so it felt) for two hours in the gym? HELL NO
I tell you, calling girls straight after gym was the PERFECT time for me to call. I felt zero concern of what would happen when I called, or how the interaction would be. I would stumble out of my gym, limping towards the bus stop, in pain, exhausted. REAL PAiN. I’d call the number or a random girl and not give a flying fuck what happened. I had just achieved something far greater and far more challenging than talking to a girl could be. I was In STATE – in that mentally, I had just experienced being so far out of my comfort zone, that any other challenge paled to insignificance.
So basically I called all my nummers after Muay Thai. I’d stroll to the bus stop, nonchalantly talking to some chick on the phone. My voice tone would be perfect, easy, laid back, NON NEEDY. My chat would reflect that, “hey, wassup, yeah cool, bla nbla bla”. I’d suddenly develop an abundance mentality.
I ask you guys to check out Bear Grylls (sp). Google him or youtube him or woteva you need to do. Find his videos. This man endures the most horrific survival missions for our viewing pleasures. He is insane the things he does. Drinking shit soaked water, swimming through leeches infected slime, scrambling with his bare hands across ice bergs.
Man endures. Man conquers. Man faces real challenges and overcomes. Fuck yeah, calling chicks?? What?? NOTHiNG!! Do you know what I’ve just been through???
Nowadays, after all the practice I’ve got, I can call all and any numbers with ease. Totally cool and totally ok with it. I’ll be lying in bed and just ring her the fuck up – it’s nothing… now. But it was a steep learning curve, and the above attitude/perspective helped me get to grips with it.

Happy calling!!
